Beckett signs extension

The Red Sox put a nice capper on a 3-game sweep of the Royals as they announced they had extended Josh Beckett's contact three years. A great move all around. For one thing, it's nice that he's locked up. For another (and I really don't care about this, because it's not my money), they got him for a lot less than they would have had to pay on the free agent market. It's one of those rare things in baseball when everyone wins (although you could argue Beckett left money on the table, nothing in life is guaranteed. And at these prices...?).
